The same teacher training course, featured in the programme The Unteachables, has been acknowledged for changing the methods of 85 per cent of Jersey teachers and improving 75 per cent of their pupils’ behaviour.
One of the driving forces behind the Channel 4 programme is leading education specialist Professor Ted Wragg, from Exeter University.
He was introduced to the system when asked to write a report on its effectiveness in Jersey schools last year.
He said that he was inspired by the Island’s progress and wanted to test the same critical skills teaching in the programme.
He said: ‘With The Unteachables we decided that one aspect we needed to include was challenging teaching.
When I came to Jersey to evaluate critical skills teaching I was very impressed with what I saw.’
