The Deputy decided last night after a meeting with supporters that it would not be in the best tradition of Jersey politics to stand for the offices of both Constable and Deputy at the same time.
This leaves Jersey Democratic Alliance member Steve Pallett as the only candidate likely to declare for both seats.
However, it appears that Mr Pallett will face a challenge from parish roads inspector Michael Jackson for the office of Constable, although the JEP has not been able to contact him for comment.
