After months of discussion a final decision has been made by Health not to allow Café Toulouse to open until it has toilet facilities.

Meanwhile, Jersey Tourism have agreed to underwrite the cost of converting the toilets into a business to the tune of £30,000.

Kevin Lemasney at Jersey Tourism said: ‘There was a joint appeal made to us by Simon Crowcroft (the Constable of St Helier) and Senator Philip Ozouf from Environment and Public Services, who have put a huge amount of money into the whole area.

‘We are very happy that we have now got a green lung in town, and that is why the Tourism Development Fund have said they will support whole concept.

They have made a contribution of £30,000 to help underwrite the transformation of the gent’s toilet into a business.’
