For many the Bank Holiday was spent on the beach, but as Islanders returned to work today, temperatures continued to rise.
A top temperature of 26 degrees is expected today and clear skies should result in another 12 hours of sunshine.
On Saturday temperatures started their weekend-long rise, hitting 21.2 degrees, with 8.7 hours of sunshine.
On Sunday the maximum temperature touched 22.9 degrees with 12.1 hours of sunshine and on Monday it topped 24 degrees, amounting to 12 hours of sunshine.
Yesterday’s top temperature was two degrees lower than that in London, where it reached 26.1 degrees, but, unlike those in the city, Islanders were able to stroll to the beach to take advantage of the sunshine before cooling off in the sea, which is currently just over 18 degrees.
But it’s not all sunshine and blue skies as the good weather is about to break.
Met Office forecaster Peter Munns said: ‘After three days of sunshine we are going to have a thundery break-down.
It will be cloudy tomorrow, clearing as we go into the afternoon, with some outbreaks of thundery rain tomorrow afternoon, going on through the night into Thursday morning, then feeling cooler.’
