The Morvan group say they are in advanced negotiations to buy the three-star town centre hotel and hope the transaction will be complete by 30 September.
If the deal goes through, the Royal will make the Morvan group six strong.
The company already owns and run the Samarès Coast, the Fort d’Auvergne, the Monterey, the Norfolk Lodge and the Uplands hotels and apartments.
The Royal Hotel has been a Best Western branded property for a number of years but is owned by a private company.
