The 17-year-old Jersey and CI champ, a student at Beaulieu, will play on her home course at Grouville against the Sarnians on the weekend of 27 and 28 August.

Standard Bank Jersey Junior Golf Foundation chairman Peter Crenan said: ‘It’s the first time for a good number of years a girl has been included, Olivia has had a fantastic season and she deserves to be in.

‘She will have to play off the men’s tees but she hits the ball well so that will not be a problem for her I’m sure.

‘Jersey has won the match for the past six years, it was very close last year and with Seb Brown and Piers de Gruchy unavailable it will be very close this time round.

‘We overcame a three-point deficit to win by two points last year and I’m sure it will be equally tight again and a cracking match for the spectators to enjoy.’ Higgins, a four handicapper, will take her place in the team along side La Moye’s Kyle Turmel (captain), Jack Critchley, Keiran Goodricke, Matt Nicolle and Jason Ozard; plus Royal Jersey’s Robbie Bailey, Andrew Gray and Gyles Robin.
