The Senator has acted because he alleges the officer blocked the Health Protection department from preparing a health risk assessment of the highly controversial Trinity infill scheme by not supplying requested information.
And he said if the information had been given, the infill scheme would never have got the go-ahead and the States would not now be facing a compensation claim after the permission was revoked.
The Senator is calling for a new disciplinary system to be introduced so civil servants responsible for ‘overspends, disasters, mistakes, wrong decisions and failings of public administration’ pay the price by losing their jobs.
However, the Senator’s action has been described as ‘deplorable’ by Environment and Public Services president Senator Philip Ozouf and Senator Terry Le Sueur, a member of the human resources sub-committee of Policy and Resources.
The two politicians confirmed that a disciplinary complaint had been received and an investigation was under way.
