Last week former parish Deputy, Senator Len Norman, lodged a projet to rezone Field 91 next to Avalon Park as an important open space in the Built-Up Area zone of the Island Plan.
Now the residents are making their voices heard.
Spokeswoman Angela Bree lives in front of the field, which she says is the last open land between Grève d’Azette and Green Island.
She said residents first became concerned about the prospect of development on their doorsteps before Christmas when they saw what they assumed to be surveyors and architects measuring the field.
Mrs Bree said an inquiry to Planning confirmed their fears.
She said they were told a proposed development was in the offing but a formal application had yet to be submitted.
Mrs Bree said Field 91 was owned by former St Clement Constable Stan Le Cornu.
He was not available for comment.
