The hand-made soaps and cosmetics company has been in the Island for about five years but recently closed its distinctive yellow shop.
A spokesman explained: ‘The Lush shop had been slowly but surely building up business, but we have found in the last year or so that the Island has been impacted by cheap flights, so it’s no longer such a destination hotspot.
This has made it harder work for us.
But that’s not to say that, in the future, we won’t open another store.
We hope that our Jerey customers will be happy to use our mail order service.
Another shop in the precinct, Fusion, has also stopped trading, although a health centre has taken on the remainder of its lease to sell spray-on stockings.
A spokesman for Fusion, which sold designer brands, said: ‘I don’t think that the cost of air fares is particularly relevant because, although there are certainly fewer visitors to the Island, there are still plenty of cheap seats available.
‘The high rent was certainly a factor, as was the general downturn in consumer spending.
And one of the main reasons for that has been the indecisiveness of the States, who appear determined to spend more than their income.
