Around 70 Granvillais made the trip to the Island to witness the signing of an official jumelage charter linking the two communities with their rich maritime histories.
The French contingent brought bubbly and a selection of local seafood for the vin d’honneur at St Brelade’s Parish Hall at 11 am ahead of the signing ceremony.
The day was attended by the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, the Constable, Max de la Haye, and the three parish Deputies, Peter Troy, Sarah Ferguson and Julian Bernstein.
Representing Granville were the town’s Mayor, Marc Verdier, and Senator Jean Bizet, the vice-president of the Consieul Regional.
Lunch was held at the Somerville Hotel before the visitors were taken on a coach tour of the parish and to meet representatives of various sporting and cultural associations.
