With the warm weather building from the previous weekend, Saturday and Sunday more than made up for the prolonged cold snap that lingered from February into mid March.
Saturday began with sea mist patches which soon burned off as the sun rose, leading to a high of 19.1?C.
As dawn broke Sunday the skies were clear and the sun rose above low cloud over the French coast to signal a fine day.
For a tiny huddle of early risers crammed into the passage grave at La Hougue Bie to witness the vernal equinox, it was an experience never to be forgotten.
Those turned away because of limited space in the tomb had the consolation of seeing the sun rise from the top of the ancient mound.
Four hours later the heritage site opened for the season with a special Jersey Heritage Trust flash day focusing on the equinox, attracting a record first-day attendance of 300 people.
For the majority of Islanders the weekend was a chance to brush off the winter cobwebs, get outside in the fresh air and welcome the spring.
If toiling in the garden was too energetic, country walks and the beaches proved to be irresistible.
