The popular pub is to take advantage of a loophole in the law which allows bands to play unamplified, acoustic gigs.

Amid threats they would have their licence revoked, Ann Street Brewery, who own the premises, pulled the plug on all live music last Thursday – after 13 years of weekend and bank holiday entertainment.

But unplugged sessions have been given the go-ahead and will kick in with the Bordellos on Friday at 9 pm.

Almost 500 people have signed a petition protesting against the ban and Mr Dryhurst today raised his glass to everyone who supported the cause.

St Peter Deputy Collin Egré went to the pub at 2.15 pm last Friday, immediately after reading the announcement in the JEP, and said he was absolutely amazed and shocked the parish were not consulted.

The Constable, Tom du Feu, has also questioned why the parish were not contacted before the ban was enforced.
