Mrs Perchard, a former World Jersey Cattle Bureau president, found the diary in her house in St Martin recently while cleaning out a cupboard.

The diary features her account of the Liberation of the Island on 9 May 1945; the Red Cross concerts that Islanders used to hold; the importance of Church to Occupied Jersey; Rozel Rovers matches; and more personal accounts of how her father battled with illness throughout the war.

Mrs Perchard, née Billot, who describes herself as ‘a terrible hoarder’, said that now she had found the diary, she would make sure she took care of it.
