The law – which will regulate commerce in Jersey and ban abusive monopolies – was due to be ratified by the Privy Council in December and should have come into force last month but it inadvertently fell off the agenda.
This caused dismay among politicians in Jersey who were keen to see the law become active and some Members called for a review of the Island’s legislative process.
But the Privy Council finally approved the law at its monthly meeting on Wednesday.
The law will now come into force on 1 May, if the States approve the Appointed Day Act which the Economic Development Committee will take to the House at the end of next month.
