Residents met the committee on site on Wednesday to object to the plans by Manzoni Ltd to build seven one-bedroom flats to replace a commercial unit formerly used by Sunblinds Ltd.
Deputy Jackie Hilton, former president of a planning applications sub-committee, which rejected the application twice last year, represented the objectors and said that she was very disappointed with the decision.
The parish raised no objections, however, and the advice of planning officers was to approve the application.
