The fitness tests are a continuation of Guthrie’s U17 England squad training but the afternoon’s events, with Lauren Devine and Sophie Hickey, are new South and South-West trials.
Guthrie’s netball ambitions are now being supported by local insurance firm EFG Reads.
Two main selections will be made, the first will be for potential training camps, with youngsters screened regionally for the National programme, and the second for performance camps where players will be selected to represent the South and South-West regions in further performance opportunities later in the year.
The event will involve athletes from all over the South West region, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, East Dorset, West Dorset and Jersey.
All three girls were observed by an England coach when they played in Bath last weekend, and attend these trials on her recommendation, and that of Jersey’s netball development officer Linda Andrews.
Andrews will accompany her charges to Bath where, on Saturday, she will attend a meeting about the new competitive structures being implemented next season.
