Currently at university in Loughborough, Herbert was selected a year ago to play in a full England senior squad, made up of younger players, in Test games against Japan and, now aged 18, she travels to Potchestroom with the U21 squad and the senior squad.

The tour is part of the intense preparation leading up to the U21 World Cup which is being held in Chile next September.

The new England head coach, Danny Kerry, and U21 coach Karen Brown are travelling with the squads and the two weeks of training and matches will give the players an opportunity to get to know one another and show what they can do.

The trip involves three Tests for the seniors and three for the U21s as well as combined squad training and gym work which will all take place in the heat and altitude of Potchestroom.

Herbert has been playing for the Fyffes Leicester team – currently fourth in the National premiership – and Loughborough, who lead the British Universities Sports Association League.
