Organiser Rob Mitchell has nothing but praise for everyone who competed and supported the event and it is possible that another evening will be organised next year.

Mitchell said: ‘It was a brilliant night, the club has now set a landmark for an event like this and hopefully it will be repeated.

‘I could not have asked for anymore from anyone on the night.

The fighters entertained the crowd in every bout and the support was magnificent.

‘The organisation was a bit of a headache and the last three weeks was a full-time job putting everything into place.

Fortunately I had the time to do it as I’ve been off work with a knee injury.

‘I’m looking to emigrate to Australia at the end of next year so at the moment I’m not sure if I’ll be around to organise another event.

I’m off to Spain in the near future to set up a club.

Maybe Jersey and Spain could be sister clubs and fight against each other regularly.

‘There are enough senior lads in the Jersey club for the event to happen again and I certainly hope it does.

It really was a fantastic evening and the support was great.’ Mitchell said that many of the London fighters fought regularly at inter-club level.

Jersey novices Danny Kennedy and Chris Dolbel, who both stepped into the ring for only the second time, came up against experienced opponents who next week will be on the bill in Thailand as part of the King of Thailand’s birthday celebrations.
