The amateur boxing club from South Hill have five home tournament dates between now and May, all of them at the Royal Hotel in David Place.
The matches are being dubbed ‘Fight Skools Nights’ and there are 15 boxers in training for next week’s first match.
Club coach Dave Thompson – who has been with the club for nearly 40 of their 50 years – says it promises to be a good start to the season with a good standard of boxing expected from the Bristol contingent.
A number of the Jersey boxers have travelled to the UK for training including Danny Maka, Les Bulpin and Dave Lund.
Thompson’s looking forward to a special year.
‘With home and away tournaments the club want a good half century celebration – it’s a great achievement for a small Island club.’ Tickets for the Bristol match will be on sale at Vowden Sports this weekend.
