Delegates included Guernsey’s Greffier Ken Tough and Deputy Bailiff the Hon Geoff Rowland, Chief Justice of Bermuda the Hon Richard Ground, Chief Justice of Malta the Hon Vincent De Gaetano, Hon Deemster of the Isle of Man Mike Kerruish and Chief Justice of Gibraltar the Hon Derek Schofield.

The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, welcomed the delegates this morning and was due to lead a discussion on the development of law and legal systems in small jurisdictions, including the use of information technology.

The conference was set up by the Bailiff after the Hon Mr Schofield spoke of the value of representatives from small jurisdictions discussing issues in the criminal justice system which affected them all.

On Monday, a three-day conference is taking place at the Pomme d’Or Hotel of the Commonwealth Magistrates’ & Judges’ Association which some 170 delegates from around the world are due to attend.
