The recently refurbished youth hostel, which opened its doors in March, wants to broaden its income stream by offering its large meeting room for hire.
It can accommodate up to 70 people, has all the equipment needed to hold a conference, talk, seminar or lunch and can incorporate surrounding rooms if needs be.
‘It was always the plan to develop this line of business, but up to now we’ve been concentrating on the residential side,’ said hostel manager Chris Alder.
‘We think it would make a welcome change for businesses – to be away from town with beautiful views over Gorey – and we are only charging £55 for a half-day and £75 for a full day.
‘I wouldn’t pretend that we offer the same luxury as the top hotels, but the centre is very comfortable and on offer for a fraction of the price.
This is an opportunity for us to develop the hostel as a year-round facility that is a resource for the whole Island rather than just for visitors.
