The competition takes place between 31 August and 18 September and the squad is Alison Camacho, Chris Grimes, Karina Bisson, Gean O’Neil and Sue Dingle.
Accompanying them will be team manager Liz Cole and president of the JWBA, Sue Silcox.
While new cap – and recent winner against world singles champion Margaret Johnston – Camacho (nee Birch) will be competing in the singles, O’Neil and Bisson (skip) will be competing in the pairs and Grimes, Camacho and Dingle (skip) in the triples.
In the fours Grimes, O’Neil, Camacho and Dingle (skip) will be representing the Island.
‘Jersey is sending a very strong team, with lots of experience,’ said Cole.
‘At World Bowls 2000, held in Australia, we were seeded fourth in both the singles’ and fours’ events and finished sixth overall in the team event, out of 34 competing countries.
‘On the back of that success, I have every confidence that the Jersey team will return from this prestigious event with medals.’ Jersey’s first stage opponents will be: Singles – Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, Thailand and Philippines.
Triples – New Zealand, Israel, Swaziland, Guernsey, Zambia and Japan.
Pairs – England, Swaziland, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands and Isle of Man.
Fours – Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia, India and Portugal.
