Confident hotel group goes for a major upgrade

Durham Estates Ltd has submitted a planning application to demolish redundant garages and construct an extension to create a conference room.

It is also planned to convert stores to three staff rooms and a new hotel laundry and to construct a second-floor extension with seven guest bedrooms.

Earlier this year the exterior of the building was transformed, with a restyled Haddonstone front fa?ade and a new heated swimming pool, decking and landscaping at the rear of the building.

The hotel, which used to be called the Egremont, has been in family ownership for over 20 years and is part of the Travtel Leisure Group.
