The Senator, who intervened on his friend’s behalf to speed up the processing of his application for the Trinity landfill, told day three of the Canavan inquiry that he had been appalled at the way he had been treated.

Day three was also marked by the evidence of current Environment and Public Services president Senator Philip Ozouf, whose relationship with two of his committee members could be stretched to breaking point after he pointed the finger of blame at them.

His evidence contradicted that of Deputies Jackie Hilton, Mike Taylor and Terry Le Main, the first two of whom still serve on the committee and who maintain they were misled.
