They want to become a company owned by the States – similar to Jersey Telecom – to give them greater freedom and offer more efficiency in dealing with public housing.

Committee president Deputy Terry Le Main wants to amend the Strategic Plan – due to be debated on 22 June – so that his committee retain ownership of their property, although Policy and Resources want all States land and buildings to be administered by one department.

There are 12,000 Housing tenants in the Island, living in almost 4,700 properties.
