Coach Stuart Gilmore, who guided the U19s to their first inter-insular win in 14 years recently, has been working hard with the age group and he and they are looking forward to the match.

Gilmore said: ‘The game is part of the development programme to bring the youngsters through and we’re all looking forward to it.

The U17s have played in the league this season, they’ve had some very tough games and since early January they’ve improved a lot.

‘Many of them are 15-year-olds, but it will be a good experience for them and that should stand them in good stead for future years and for when they move up to U19s.

‘They have all worked extremely hard this season and hopefully they will put on a good show for themselves and the Island.’ Tomorrow’s match demonstrates how far the JBBA has come with its junior development programme, despite only being in its second full year.

Vice-president John Small said: ‘We are delighted to be hosting this game so soon.

It really goes to show what a group of keen young players can achieve, especially as most of them were novices a year ago’.

The inaugural Landsteinar U17 match takes place at Langford sports hall, Mont Millais, at 1 pm.

Spectators welcome.

Jersey squad: Joe Burleigh, Tommy Noel, Alex Henderson, Max Burnett, Derek Pereira, Dom Chaopradith, Carlo Raniera, Julian Brian and Liam Barry.
