The annual Jersey Secondary Schools Sports Association’s netball tour brings the curtain down on another successful junior season.Two Jersey teams will again compete in the tournament with both aiming to gain a place in the quarter-finals, at least.Jersey Whites will be hoping to go even further, bringing the trophy back to Jersey for the second time in consecutive years.However, the Island teams face strong opposition from Turnford, who won the silver medal at the Jersey Challenge Tournament in January, Essex Open, who are always strong, and the physical Star team and the skilful Manor.Jersey coach Jackie Nelson said: ‘We have two very talented and versatile teams.
Team spirit is strong and there is an abundance of enthusiasm.
Everyone is looking forward to the tournament and I’m confident the girls will give a good account of themselves.’Jersey Whites: Emma Carré, Jenna Murphy, Alex Austin (captain), Amy Dingle, Charise Renouf, Eleanor Humphrey, Kirsten McArthur and Nicole Goddard.Jersey Reds: Kirsty White, Kerrie Jarvie, Emma Clyde-Smith (captain), Elianne Riant, Cordelia Overland, Stephanie Le Ruez, Jordanna Wherry, Abbie Cummins and Iona Richardson.Nelson will be assisted by Yveline Le Manach while travelling umpires are Lisa Bowman and Aileen Binnie.
