Jersey B – John Farley, Trevor Griggs and Adele Kapp – kept a nice easy rhythm going and annihilated Gloucestershire’s 2003 record of 1,533 shots, with an incredible 2,666 continuous-shot rally during the alloted 60 minutes.

They now await confirmation from the World Squash Federation that their feat is the new record. Two other JSC teams Jersey A (Rob Hickling, Steve Law and John Wood) and Jersey C (Mark Corradine, Paul Lynch and Mark Baudet) both surpassed the previous record despite several restarts, with efforts of 1,582 and 1,597 respectively.Farley, Griggs and Kapp’s level of concentration was incredible and although there were some scary moments as they approached the old record, they had settled into a steady pattern. In fact, it was only the clock that beat them as they completed the 60 minutes without a single error.

A classic case of the tortoise beating the hare!
