Questions over the tendering process and the granting of the contract to Connex – which was at the centre of yesterday’s resignation of the Environment and Public Services Committee – will be put by a committee of inquiry.States Members are likely to agree to the proposition from the Policy and Resources Committee, who say that there is an urgent need to hold an open inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the awarding of the contract.P & R say: ‘An independent and impartial mechanism is needed to tackle the issues with fairness and to establish, as accurately as possible, the facts regarding the events which occurred and, where appropriate, to comment on those events.’
