Housing survive vote of no confidence

The vote proposed by Deputy Geoff Southern failed by 36 votes to nine, but the debate hinged mainly on the Housing president himself and not the policies pursued by his committee.Deputy Le Main said that in 25 years as a States Member he had never heard so vicious a personal attack.

The speeches of Deputy Southern and Deputy Bob Hill, he suggested, could be slanderous if repeated outside the Chamber, where States Members have full protection from prosecution for what they say.’Dare they say any of that outside the security of the Chamber, they will be in the Royal Court,’ said Deputy Le Main.
