Deputy Gerald Voisin said that a recent decision by Attorney General William Bailhache not to prosecute premises that offered a non-retail service if they opened on a Sunday had to be looked at closely.Mr Bailhache wrote to the Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, to say that the Shops (Sunday Trading) Law was not sufficiently clear to warrant the prosecution of premises that offered a service, such as tanning shops, hairdressers or video rental shops.’If the Attorney General is saying, basically, that you cannot sell anything, but you can provide a service, I think we have got to establish the number of organisations that is going to affect,’ he said.
