In last night’s election he topped the poll with 538 votes.
The other candidate, former dairy farmer Chris Taylor, received 386 votes.The result of the vote was announced soon after 9 pm by the returning officer, Lieut-Bailiff Jurat John de Veulle, to the friends and supporters of the two candidates who had filled the parish hall in the intervening time after the polls had closed.
