The project co-ordinators, the Jersey Potato Export Marketing Board, have placed an advertisement in the JEP saying they are seeking prospective sites for a distillery.
The board need between five and seven vergées of vacant land, perhaps near glasshouses or in a disused quarry, to consider as a suitable site. The board chairman, Michael Cotillard, said that he was making inquiries in all quarters and had let the membership of the Jersey Farmers Union know, especially glass-house growers.’A site near a glass house could be ideal,’ he said, ‘because the distillation process would involve the emission of heat and CO2 – just the expensive commodities needed in glasshouse production.’
