Plane drops biggest cannabis seizure in Etacq field

Cannabis worth £500,000 was found in a field at l’Etacq on Friday evening after being dropped from an aircraft a few days before.

The drugs were found by a member of the public and reported to police.It was one of three seizures over the last few days that netted £648,000 worth of drugs for Drugs Squad and Customs and Excise officers.Two men have appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today charged in relation to a heroin and cocaine haul, and a further £92,000 worth of cannabis was seized from an address in town on Thursday.Friday morning saw £50,000 worth of heroin and £6,500 worth of cocaine seized at the Elizabeth Harbour.

David Haywood (38) and Douglas Quinault (39) appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning in relation to the haul, which Customs say had been hidden internally.A person arrested when police found £92,000 worth of cannabis at a flat in town on Thursday has been released without charge.
