More foreshore claims possible, says Deputy

And more politicians have spoken out against the controversial proposal to hand over a £10m waterfront site to Les Pas to settle the company’s legal claim to ownership of the St Helier foreshore.

Deputy Bob Hill is organising a public meeting later this month and he says that the States should not debate the proposal until the ownership of all of the foreshore around the Island is determined.

Meanwhile, Deputy Phil Rondel believes there could potentially be another foreshore ownership dispute in the offing.

‘I am concerned that there could be another foreshore ownership case sitting on the sidelines,’ he said.He is calling for the courts to be allowed to make a decision on the Les Pas claim no matter how long it takes rather than gift the company the prime site.
