Field of dreams

Field of dreams

Self-confessed cricket fanatic Mr Perchard wants to fulfil a lifetime ambition to have his own cricket field on his doorstep.

He has applied for a change of use for Fields 724 and 722, off Rue de la Vignette, but he does not intend to keep the pleasure of hearing leather on willow all to himself. He wants to share his very own fields of dreams with others, such as the Farmers Cricket Club, St Martin’s School and the young players of the Jersey Cricket Association.’It’s something I’ve always aspired to – I’m cricket-mad,’ Mr Perchard admitted.

‘I’m a member of the Farmers Cricket Club which has been in action for 25 years.

I decided to put in the application because of the drop in land prices.

When they were high it was not really a viable idea.

Now that fields are rent-free and no longer viable, the proposition will not impinge much on me financially.’
