Uma Thurman to play former special ops officer in Dexter sequel series

Hollywood actress Uma Thurman is set to play a former special ops officer in a sequel series to hit crime show Dexter.

The Kill Bill star, 54, will portray head of security Charley, who works for a mysterious billionaire called Leon Prater in Dexter: Resurrection and is seen as his “resourceful and meticulous right-hand” woman.

Michael C Hall returns as the title character and serial killer Dexter Morgan, who was last seen as a fish and game shop worker in a small New York town in Dexter: New Blood until his identity was revealed, and his son Harrison (Jack Alcott) shot him.

Dexter: Resurrection will also star David Zayas as Dexter’s former friend and colleague detective Angel Batista, who briefly appeared in Dexter: New Blood, while James Remar returns as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, along with Harrison.

The franchise, based on the books by novelist Jeff Lindsay, began in 2006 and followed Dexter across eight series as he tried to keep his crimes of killing murderers secret from his colleagues, family and friends.

It starred Jennifer Carpenter as his sister Debra, Angel and Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Julie Benz as his wife Rita, and Zayas and Remar.

In the current iteration of the franchise, Dexter: Original Sin, Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Dexter’s colleague Tanya Martin, while True Romance actor Christian Slater portrays Harry.

It is set in 1991 Miami, and sees how Dexter adapts The Code of Harry to help him find and kill people who he feels deserve to be eliminated from society without getting caught, while working as a forensics intern.

Production for Dexter: Resurrection began earlier this month in New York and the series is set to launch in the summer on Paramount+ UK.
