Rod Stewart’s wife says his 80th birthday will stay in their ‘hearts forever’

The wife of Sir Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, says that she is “so blessed” to share the singer’s 80th birthday with him and their children, as his celebrity friends also marked his milestone birthday.

The British star celebrates his birthday on Friday, following confirmation in November that his 2025 European and North American tour dates will be his final “large-scale” major projects after a more than 60-year career.

Model and Loose Women star Lancaster, 53, who married Sir Rod in 2007, wrote on Instagram: “Happy birthday my darling, so blessed to be sharing this day together with all our kids.

“Building more memories to carry with us into the future and to be held close to our hearts forever, I love you xx.”

She shared the message, alongside an image of Sir Rod in what appeared to be a sunny, and oversees destination, which has been reported to be a Caribbean island.

The couple had two children together following Sir Rod welcoming six other children, including socialite Kimberly Stewart, model Ruby Stewart and reality star and musician Sean Stewart, from previous relationships.

Underneath Lancaster’s post, former Britain’s Next Top Model host Lisa Snowdon, TV presenter Davina McCall, Sir Rod tour singer Becca Kotte, TV presenter Lizzie Cundy, pianist and BBC music show host Jools Holland wrote birthday messages for the singer.

Holland, who put out the album Swing Fever with Sir Rod in 2024, wrote: “Many happy returns dear pal xxx.”

McCall wrote: “Happy Birthday Rod ! Thank you for all the joy and dancing !!! Hope you all have the best day.”

In an Instagram story, Sir Elton John shared a collection of images with Sir Rod, his friend, and occasional rival, who he pianist duetted with on the track Sad Songs (Say So Much) when he received the first Brits Icon Award in 2013.

Sir Elton wished a “brilliant day” to Sir Rod, who he called his “mate”, along with sending “much love”.

He also said they had had “so many great memories over the years”.

Wood, who was in the band Faces with Sir Rod, wrote: “Happy 80th birthday @sirrodstewart! My lifelong pal is having a big birthday today! Please join me in wishing him a wonderful day.”

Drummer Kenney Jones, known for The Small Faces, The Faces, The Law and The Who, wrote on Instagram saying he hopes Sir Rod has “a great day”.

Sir Rod – known for the hits include Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?, You’re In My Heart, Hot Legs and Maggie May – promised last year he would not retire, but said he would focus on more intimate venues for his next tour slated for 2026.

The London-born singer, who will end his European tour in May and North American dates in August, is a member of the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was knighted by the late Queen in 2016 for his services to music and charity.

Earlier in the day, Sir Rod thanked his “loyal and rowdy fans” in an Instagram story for “helping give me such a wonderful life” on his 80th birthday, and added that he hopes he has given them “some memorable songs and lively concerts”.
