Kylie Minogue latest star to read CBeebies Bedtime Story

Kylie Minogue has lent her Grammy-winning voice to read a children’s classic tale for CBeebies Bedtime Story.

The Australian actress and singer, 56, will read Goodnight Moon by American writer Margaret Wise Brown and illustrator Clement Hurd during Friday’s episode.

First published in 1947, the story follows a little rabbit who is tucked up in bed in a big green room who is getting ready to say goodnight to all their familiar things one by one.

Minogue said: “It was a real pleasure to read Goodnight Moon as my first CBeebies Bedtime Story.

This is the first of two stories the Padam Padam singer has recorded for CBeebies, with details of her second story to be revealed.

After rising to fame as Charlene Robinson in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, Minogue launched her music career in the late 1980s and has gone on to become one of the biggest pop artists in the world.

She has produced hits including Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, I Should Be So Lucky, All The Lovers and The Loco-Motion over the years.

Last year, her single Padam Padam, from her 2023 album Tension, went viral after it picked up traction on social media.

Earlier this year, she took home the global icon award at the Brits and won the best pop dance recording Grammy for the catchy tune.

She is releasing the sequel to last year’s album, titled Tension II, on Friday and is set to embark on a world tour next year with shows scheduled across the UK.

Minogue follows in the footsteps of famous faces including Dolly Parton, Harry Styles, Dave Grohl, Tom Hardy and Stephen Fry who have previously read stories for CBeebies Bedtime Story.

She will appear on the children’s programme on October 18, with details of her second appearance to be released in due course.
