Harry Potter star Katie Leung is to join the cast of Bridgerton for season four of the Netflix period drama.
The 37-year-old will play the twice-married, twice-widowed Lady Araminta Gun, who will have two girls debuting on the marriage mart this season and is said to be feeling the pressure to get at least one of them married off.
The show’s creators said her character is “fabulous, discerning and blunt” and added that she does not respond well when her position in society is questioned.
Also joining the Bridgerton cast will be Michelle Mao, who will play Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei, who will play Posy Li.
The pair’s characters will be Lady Araminta’s daughters, with Mao’s character said to be “beautiful, vain and eager to please her mother”, while Wei’s character is described as “much kinder”.
Wei is best known for her role as Ling Yi in Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese’s Netflix series 1899, while Mao has appeared in Netflix’s Metal Lords and Disney+’s Goosebumps.
Emma Naomi will join the series’ main cast, reprising her role as Alice Mondrich, while Hugh Sachs will also become part of the main cast in his role as Brimsley.
Production began today on the new series, which is to focus on the second Bridgerton son, Benedict (Luke Thompson) and his quest to find the Lady in Silver, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
This season, Bridgerton has expanded its filming locations on a newly constructed backlot of Shepperton Studios, showcasing replicas of Georgian and Regency architecture including homes, buildings and a Mayfair Street.
A release date has not been announced for the new series, which will be made up of eight episodes.
