The team at 4Safety explains how the company’s training programmes can help to deliver ‘real results’ – and how firms could offset the cost by applying for a Better Business Grant

ESTABLISHED in 2009, 4Safety was created to provide training and development solutions tailored to the unique needs of Island-based businesses.

It is the sister company of 4hire, the Channel Islands’ leading provider of rental solutions, offering the widest range of equipment for both long- and short-term hire, including the full spectrum of construction tools and machinery, gardening equipment, vans, tipper trucks, disabled access vehicles, cars, site welfare units and more.

4Safety’s mission is to ensure that our customers have the option of being trained by industry professionals on our latest hire equipment, so they can use the items more efficiently and effectively.

Training is not only a legal requirement; it also significantly reduces equipment breakdowns and call-outs. Trained personnel are more likely to select and operate the correct equipment for each task, leading to safer, smoother and more cost-effective operations.

Our safety training assists many of the support services vital to island living. For example, you may not be aware that any garage selling petrol must train their personnel to ensure that the forecourt is a safe working environment. Additionally, most food freight must be transshipped from 40ft containers to smaller vehicles for deliveries to store, and we train many of the Island’s forklift operators.

At 4Safety, we offer more than 75 courses, covering a wide range of topics, including driving safely and delivering growth. Our customised upskilling programmes are designed to help businesses enhance skills and safety knowledge, boost operational efficiency, future-proof their operations, increase profitability and gain a competitive edge.

By investing in upskilling and safety training, businesses can increase revenue potential with a highly skilled workforce, maximise safe equipment use and reduce downtime, reduce time wasted on inefficient or unsafe practices, expand service offerings with a well-rounded team and minimise outsourcing by developing in-house expertise.

At 4safety, we cover a wide range of industries within the Channel Islands and are committed to helping businesses unlock greater performance and profitability through practical, targeted workforce training. Frequently we meet up with customers to develop a training solution that delivers real results for their business.

Our experienced team of instructors brings diverse industry knowledge to every session. Training is available at our Jersey facilities, onsite at your premises or across the other Channel Islands. We also support Continued Professional Development and can create bespoke training and development plans tailored to your team’s needs.

The Jersey Business Skills Development Grant is designed to support initiatives that can enhance business, digital and leadership skills, leading to improvements in:

  • Process efficiency.
  • Cost reduction.
  • Increase in sales.

Grants are available to businesses that employ two or more people. Each grant is 50% matched funded for amounts of up to either £5,000 or £75,000.

When you invest in training, you invest in your people. And your business relies on people to earn you money and keep your operation rolling.

Acquiring and retaining skilled individuals can be challenging, and their wellbeing should be prioritised. A well-functioning piece of equipment is more profitable than one that has been mishandled. The same principle applies to your staff.

4Safety is committed to providing exceptional workplace training, using local instructors. Our courses adhere to nationally recognised and accredited syllabuses, ensuring the highest standards of education. Our courses span a spectrum, from fundamental workplace safety to specialised training for heavy plant machinery operation.

4Safety caters to all skill levels, offering training for novice, semi-experienced and experienced members of staff. Our instructors are highly skilled and dedicated to providing exceptional guidance and support.

By investing in upskilling and safety training, businesses can increase revenue potential with a highly skilled workforce, maximise safe equipment use and reduce downtime, reduce time wasted on inefficient or unsafe practices, expand service offerings with a well-rounded team and minimise outsourcing by developing in-house expertise

4Safety employs locally accredited instructors for NPORS courses, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and subjecting all aspects to ongoing audit regimes. Our facilities include a purpose-built safety training room, which provides a safe and air-conditioned environment for completing written theory sections of any course. We prioritise understanding your specific training requirements and are more than willing to meet clients to discuss those needs.

We can provide equipment for specific operator courses by using some of the most modern equipment sourced locally from 4hire. Additionally, we are more than happy to use your own equipment.

Promoting a comprehensive health and safety culture within your business ensures your employees adopt and uphold these principles.

Empowering your employees to reach their full potential fosters a more efficient and communicative workforce. This approach drives productivity, innovation and competitiveness, contributing to long-term business success and increases motivation and dedication to the organisation.

Trained staff are better equipped to respond to your commitment to their career development, enhancing their chances of securing new clients and inclusion in tenders, such as those in the States of Jersey.
