SUNWORKS is a tight team of passionate individuals who genuinely believe that solar energy has a role to play in our energy future.
With the transition to sustainable energy being a key challenge in the 21st century, solar is one technology that has been keeping the SunWorks team constantly developing and bringing essential new skills to the Island.
Since 2013, SunWorks has been a leader in solar energy solutions and was the first dedicated solar provider in Jersey.
Fast forward to 2023 and the company has completed more than 500 installations, with the team of 20 solar professionals operating from the office and warehouse at St Helier Business Park, La Pouquelaye.
The process of installing solar panels extends beyond purchasing and fitting. SunWorks has a skilled in-house team to specify and deliver anything from tiny off-grid projects right the way through to rooftop solar farms of comprising more than 1,000 panels. So, what goes into making SunWorks special?
An inquiry for solar will be received and followed up by solar surveyors Ben Spencer-Newman and Shayne Lightfoot. Getting to understand the needs of property owners is key to delivering the right type of solar installation.
When it comes to construction and larger commercial projects, SunWorks has Alex Dascalescu who engages with building professionals to provide solar-specific design elements on both the mechanical and electrical elements of a project.
Once a project gets the green light, Zoe Marshall and Shauna Williamson are the dynamic project co-ordinating duo. Their role is at the heart of the business, managing the interests of all stakeholders including the customer, suppliers, contractors and Jersey Electricity, as well as the design and installation teams. This role is key to delivering a smooth process and making sure customers are informed about everything needed for installation.
SunWorks has two installation departments of technicians, who both contribute to effective solar installation. The solar installation team is headed up by Dom Brookfield and Alex Pearce alongside eight other solar technicians with a variety of experience.
Up on the roof, SunWorks can also undertake roofing works – often in conjunction with solar installations – with Chris Walker bringing many years of trade experience from the UK. Five qualified electricians handle all the connections to the highest electrical standard, right from small residential systems through to more complex commercial sites. SunWorks’ electricians, like Jack Le Brun, are also involved with EV charging installations and ongoing system maintenance.
SunWorks’ managing director and co-founder Mark Brandon started the company with his father, Ian Brandon. Since establishing the business, Mark has become the Island’s voice on solar technology, but with a focus on developing a great culture for SunWorks to attract the next generation of the Island’s solar specialists to embark on a career in this emerging industry.
Solar technology is an interesting sector, which straddles technology, construction and energy. This attracts talent into the business, as it offers diverse opportunities.
The company is currently recruiting for a technical manager to head up the technical project delivery and further the company’s ambition, but anyone interested in a career in renewable energy is invited to contact the team, as SunWorks is always keen to hear from interested applicants looking to change career or level up.
SunWorks holds local stock of major solar brands to assist with swift installation and fair pricing. You could have solar installed at your home or business within just a few weeks.
