A LOCAL hotel has won two prestigious national awards.

The Atlantic Hotel’s Ocean Restaurant, one of the Island’s most highly rated dining establishments, was crowned Restaurant of the Year at the Pride of Britain Hotels, while its head chef, Will Holland, was named Hotel Chef of the Year (fewer than 250 covers) at the Hotel Cateys 2023.

Pride of Britain Hotels is an exclusive collection of more than 50 independent luxury hotels spread across the British Isles. Each year, the organisation assesses its members through a mystery guest inspection process.

The Restaurant of the Year title is awarded to an establishment that focuses on “high-quality local ingredients, impeccable presentation and warm authentic hospitality, which combine to offer guests an innovative dining experience”.

As well as commending The Atlantic’s dedication to culinary excellence, impeccable service and the creation of lasting memories for guests, the judges recognised the hotel for its commitment to sustainability and its world-class views.

The owner and managing director of The Atlantic Hotel, Patrick Burke, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the Restaurant of the Year Award from Pride of Britain Hotels.

“Being the only local member of this prestigious consortium makes us particularly proud to be flying the flag for Jersey, especially given the exceptional quality of the hotels and restaurants in membership.”

Mr Holland added: “Our goal at Ocean is to create a dining experience that not only tantalises the taste buds but also provides a feast for the eyes. The Restaurant of the Year award is a tribute to the passion and dedication of our entire team.”

The Hotel Cateys, dubbed the Oscars of the hospitality industry, recognise and celebrate excellence among hospitality professionals.

The awards took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge last week.

Mr Holland won the title after being shortlisted alongside Elliot Hill of the Chester Grosvenor, Manish Patel of Indus at Park Regis Birmingham, Nik Chappell of the Slaughters Manor House and Sam Karle of Dakota Manchester.

Mr Burke said: “This award is richly deserved. Will has worked so hard over the last six years to continuously develop the offering in Ocean Restaurant with his creative and innovative approach. He is an inspirational leader of his brigade and we couldn’t be more proud of him.”

Mr Holland added: “What an absolutely amazing feeling. A Catey is such an iconic award and something I’ve admired all my career and now to have won one is fantastic.”
