LICENSED venues will be allowed to open until 4am on Monday to coincide with England’s next World Cup match.

The last-16 tie between England and Mexico kicks off at 1am on Monday, and will potentially not finish until 3.45am should extra time and a penalty shoot-out be required.

The Bailiff’s Chambers has agreed to grant licence extensions until 4am. It comes after it was confirmed last night that UK pubs and bars had been granted permission to open until 5am on Monday morning.

Establishments in Jersey will be expected to enforce 3.30am last orders. Venues with over 60 patrons will require security, as stipulated with other extensions for the World Cup 2026 fixtures.

The decision was made in consultation with industry representatives, the States of Jersey Police and the Honorary Police.

Each venue which currently holds an extension permit must notify the Bailiff’s Chambers via email to bailiffschambers@courts.je by noon on Saturday 4 July whether it intends to open to screen this match.

This is to allow authorities to have an understanding of which venues intend to screen the matches outside of usual opening times.
