FLIGHTS between Jersey and the UK are being affected by technical problems with air traffic control equipment which have grounded departures at airports across the south of England.
Ports of Jersey confirmed that the Island was among those being impacted by the disruption this afternoon, with passengers advised to check the status of their flight directly with their airline.
National Air Traffic Services said it was investigating a “technical issue” which was causing disruption to flight departures.
Heathrow, Gatwick, Southend and Guernsey are also among the airports understood to be affected.
A NATS spokesperson said: “Our engineers are on site and we will provide an update as soon as we can.
“We apologise for the delay this will cause to journeys. Passengers should check with their airline on the status of their flight.”
A Ports of Jersey said this afternoon: “UK air traffic control is currently experiencing issues which is impacting flights across the UK including services between Jersey and UK.
“Passengers are advised to check the latest flight information directly with their airline.”
Richard Thomasson, Guernsey’s Airport Director, said the Island was also feeling the impact.
“Guernsey Ports is working closely with airlines and operational partners to manage disruption. Provision has been made to extend airport operating hours this evening if required. We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” he said.
