ALMOST 2,800 Islanders cast their election votes in advance during the “pre-poll” window set up in St Helier.
The facility at St Paul’s Centre was open on weekdays between 26 May and 1 June, with a total of 2,795 votes cast during this period.
The tally of pre-poll votes was up by 85% from the 2022 figure of 1,508. Although this surge has been partly countered by a reduction in the number of postal votes applied for – down from 2,709 in 2022 to 1,729 this year – the combined number of advance voters has risen by 7% compared with four years ago.
Judicial Greffier Rebecca Morley-Kirk said: “We are really encouraged to see this increase in the number of Islanders voting ahead of election day and hope the trend continues when it comes to overall turnout this Sunday.”
On election day itself , a total of 19 polling stations across the Island will open between 8am and 8pm. A list of polling stations is available at vote.je/3-ways-to-vote/
