PROPOSALS from prospective development partners to “help shape the next chapter” of the La Folie Inn site are currently being evaluated by Ports of Jersey.
The update comes five months after formal expressions of interest were invited for a “heritage-led, hospitality-focused redevelopment” of the site, which covers around 3,000 square metres and includes the listed former pub.
The project forms part of the wider Harbour Master Plan.
Proposals are subject to a number of expectations, including plans to deliver a 160-room hotel as well to “restore and reinvigorate key heritage assets” including La Folie and South Pier House.
In an update, Ports stated that that it had received “strong interest from a broad range of organisations keen to help shape the next chapter of this important site”.
“A key focus of the project is to preserve and celebrate La Folie’s heritage, while creating a vibrant space that delivers lasting value for the Island and its community,” the update continued.
“We’ve been encouraged by the quality of the proposals we have received and the importance they have placed on the renovation of the La Folie Inn.”
Ports explained that it was “currently working with the interested parties to evaluate their proposals” and would provide further progress updates “in due course”.
The States-owned entity said it was doing so “with the aim of identifying partners who can create something that Islanders can take pride in, both now and for future generations”.
La Folie Inn has been closed since 2004.
