JERSEY BULLS WOMEN will aim to continue their relentless march at the top of Surrey Division 1 Group A when they travel to Ash United tomorrow, chasing a 14th consecutive victory.

The league leaders have made a commanding start to life in the newly split division, winning both of their Group A fixtures in style. A thrilling 7-3 victory over South Park (Reigate) showcased their attacking firepower, before a composed 3-1 win away at Horley Town last week underlined their ability to get the job done on the road.

Central to that success has been the prolific form of Anita Tavares, who has emerged as one of the division’s most dangerous forwards. The striker has netted five goals in her last two appearances and will again be a key threat as the Bulls look to extend their winning run.

Ash United, meanwhile, enter the contest as something of an unknown quantity. They secured their place in Group A by the narrowest of margins, finishing seventh in the league’s earlier format, but are yet to play since the division split.

That lack of recent action could make them difficult to assess, though they will undoubtedly be eager to test themselves against the table-toppers.

There is also recent history firmly in Jersey’s favour. When the sides met earlier in the season at Springfield, the Bulls produced a dominant display to claim a 6-1 victory. Tavares struck twice on that occasion, while captain Holly Sundby led by example with a hat-trick.

Confidence within the squad remains high, and with good reason. The Bulls are not only chasing another win, but are also part of a wider surge in success across Jersey sport.

With Jersey RFC Men already crowned champions, Team Jets closing in on promotion, the Bulls Men locked in a playoff battle, and the Ladies Volleyball team securing an unbeaten Hampshire Division 1 title defence, it is proving to be a standout period for island sport.

A 14th straight win would further cement Jersey Bulls Women’s status as frontrunners for silverware this season and maintain their grip on top spot in Group A.

Kick-off at Ash United is scheduled for 1pm.
