THE GOVERNMENT of Jersey was owed more than £12.2 million in unpaid invoices as of the end of May 2025.

According to figures released by the Treasury Minister in response to a written question by Deputy Kristina Moore, the largest proportion of debt – over £4.6 million – was owed to Health and Community Services, followed by Infrastructure and Environment at £3.1 million.

Next was Treasury at just under £1.5m, and Children, Young People, Education and Skills, which was owed £1.4m.

The data shows that £3.8 million of the total debt had been outstanding for more than a year, spread across 1,717 debtor accounts. A further £2.1 million was between 91 and 180 days overdue.

Every government department has contributed to the overall trade debtor figure, which includes charges for a wide range of services.
