OVER £200,000 has been raised for the Island’s veterans through this year’s Poppy Appeal.
The Jersey Branch of the Royal British Legion said they were “humbled” by the generosity of Islanders.
A total of £201,832 was raised in 2024, an increase of £15,000 on last year’s appeal.
The funds raised will go towards continuing to provide financial, social and emotional care to members of the armed forces community in Jersey.
Poppy Appeal organiser Alison Opfermann said: “Every penny we raise stays in Jersey, so on behalf of the Island’s service veterans and their families, we offer sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated or made a purchase.
“It is just wonderful that everyone has come together to show such support for our forces community.”
Tim Daniels, chair of the Royal British Legion in Jersey, said: “Every purchase and donation to the 2024 Poppy Appeal will help members or former members of the armed forces community.
“We are so very grateful to the people of Jersey who have donated so generously to enable us to continue our work in supporting our local veterans, and also to our many volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make all this happen.”
